Storm-2035

Named by MicrosoftSuspected state sponsor: Islamic Republic of Iran

Storm-2035 is a Microsoft tracking designation for an Iranian influence operation cluster active during the 2024 US presidential election cycle, first documented by Microsoft in August 2024. The group operated fake news websites and social media personas to covertly influence American voters and inflame domestic political divisions on issues including LGBTQ rights, the Gaza conflict, and US political figures. Storm-2035 engaged directly with US political activists on at least one occasion to solicit campaign messaging it could repurpose. The cluster shares tactical overlap with other Iranian state-sponsored influence operations documented during the same period, including the Sefid Flood persona network.
